Power of United

As a social activist, I was particularly disappointed when my classmates told the response of “there’s no solution to racism” in my presentation of BLM. Our generation is so influential, but we were not maximizing our capabilities to improve our society. We have great platforms and voices for us to advocate changes, but the best we could do was posting black squares on Instagram? This was unacceptable and as one of the students in the new generation, I aim to change that.

Racism is a tough issue to “solve”, but this doesn’t mean I cannot do anything about it. Many black people face issues of security or equality in their daily lives. Not only would I influence the people around me on the importance of equality and peace, but I’ll also visit at-risk environments and neighborhoods and help out the kids. Whether it’s spreading love to people who had traumatic memories and lack of love and caring or starting classes so even kids who don’t have the money for quality education can still learn.

We often over-simplify the problems, but we must not underestimate our abilities. We are all capable of changes and improving our lives because this is why we are here for.
